Back to birds...and bubbles

I showed you in my last post some of the swallows I had been sketching so I thought I'd pop back with some of my painted versions. This one is called 'A Little Bird Told Me', painted with quite cool tones of pink, blue and lilac.

This painting below is a little lady in her pyjamas dancing through bubbles with the moon and the sun.

I'd love to know if you think any of these would work well as prints...or not. I'm trying to think about my target market a bit more at the moment. I'm hoping to create a larger variety of work as I plan to reduce the amount of originals in my etsy shop as I introduce prints. I won't be getting rid of all original work though by any means, once I've got my first few prints sorted out I plan to create some new aceos. For my current ACEOs I'm having 30% off for the rest of the week with code BIRD30 for blog readers and facebook fans.

I have a busy couple of weeks ahead as we prepare for my son to finish up at nursery - lots of meetings and trips and things. Then that's us into the school holidays for a whole six weeks! I'll pop back soon to show you some of the other paintings I've been working on.

  1. Hi Yvonne ;o) Well, I have to tell you, that your little lady, with the moon and sun, made my heart sing! I love it! And, your birds are so precious!!! A++++ I think they would do well as prints. I have to be honest with you, if I can afford it, I love originals, but I know a lot of people like prints. And, I do think these two are precious! Good luck finding out what your target market is! I have people from all different ages, from all across the world. The one thing I have to say, they all love nature and have a deep connection to it. I have found this out. Great sale! Very kind of you!!! Big Hugs and take care ;o)

    1. Stacy thank you for the lovely compliments on my artwork, I'm glad you like them. I do understand what you mean about originals, there is something lovely about owning a one off. I think with some of my new work - the bubble dancer girl for example, if I was to sell the original of this it would be quite expensive as it's taken me quite a long time to paint and I'd like to build my portfolio back up too. I hope to get a balance of originals and prints but this will be ongoing. As for my target market, this has always confused me, I guess I'm thinking about people who are in many ways similar to myself. Your work is very cute and cheerful I can imagine it will appeal to a wide variety of people, I think I'm more of a niche market, lol! (sorry about the essay) xx

  2. My favourite of these is the top one but then again it would be :) because I've made a painting with the very same name! So I am a little biased. Yours of course is completely different from mine and I so love those pretty and gentle colours you use!
